Important Intuit QuickBooks Desktop Notice sent 2/6/2024
 
Intuit announced on 2/6/24 that they will no longer sell new subscriptions of QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus or QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll after July 31, 2024. That has since been extended to September 30, 2024. Existing customers can continue to use and renew their subscription after September 30, 2024. Intuit will also continue to sell, support and update all QuickBooks Enterprise subscriptions to new or existing customers. You may have received an email about this from Intuit with a longer and more complete explanation of this announcement. Our take on this....

Existing QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, QuickBooks Desktop Premier Plus or QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll customers are not affected by this announcement. So if you currently have any of the above QuickBooks subscriptions, it will continue to function and you can continue to renew your subscription after September 30, 2024. Intuit will continue to provide security updates, product updates, and support for existing subscribers as per the subscription terms. It is recommended that you install the latest 2024 version of your QuickBooks Desktop edition before September 30, 2024.

So while this seems alarming at first glance, you do not have to be alarmed. Existing QuickBooks Desktop Plus subscriptions will continue to function and be maintained via QuickBooks Updates. Intuit will most likely encourage you to move to QuickBooks Online, but you are not required to do so. The QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise editions seem to be the preferred Desktop options in the future and the only ones available to new customers after September 30, 2024.

PLEASE NOTE: The Quantum Project Manager only works with QuickBooks Desktop, not QuickBooks Online. That may change in the future, but for now if you use the QuickBooks integration features of the Quantum Project Manager, stay on a QuickBooks Desktop edition and do not move to QuickBooks Online.

If you use an older non-subscription based version of QuickBooks Pro or Premier, particularly QuickBooks 2021 or earlier with a QuickBooks payroll option, it will most likely stop working in May 2024. So it is highly recommended that you get a new subscription of QuickBooks Desktop and install it prior to then. Click here to order it, but be sure to order and install it before  September 30, 2024. If you have a current payroll subscription, that should transfer to the new QuickBooks version without needing to repurchase it.

Lastly, if you are not currently using it and are considering adding QuickBooks Desktop Enhanced Payroll, do it before September 30, 2024. Be sure to NOT order the QuickBooks Online payroll particulary if you intend to integrate it with the Quantum Project Manager.
