The owner of Tarnbrooke Tack has owned and ridden horses for over 25 years. She has an Irish Draught, a Morgan Mare and two Delightful Ponies. Unlike some tack shop owners she has 25 years of experience owning, showing and taking care of her equine friends.
Owning and showing horses is an expensive hobby for everyone. In today's world it seems that every sport you or your family become involved in costs a lot of money. Her initial thought was to have a consignment store to enable equestrians to buy tack, clothing, boots and their other equestrian needs affordably.
Tarnbrooke Tack opened to the public December 10th 1999. It was strictly a consignment store at that time. It has since gotten a lot of NEW Vendors and New items to supply their customers. Tarnbrooke only takes in almost new, slightly used tack and equipment. There is always a need for these items. Many very nice items have been bought and sold through the store. We are always in search of slightly used, almost new items. The commission to Tarnbrooke Tack is 25% on everything but saddles. Saddles, are 15% commission.
Checks are written the first of every month with a list to the customers of exactly what has been sold. This has worked very well. Everything is computerized and there is never a question in anyone's mind of what is in the store
and what isn't.
Along with all the equestrian items, Tarnbrooke Tack carries local artists framed prints, has The Engraver, Digital Embroidery, Equine Blanket Service, Hand Stamped Equestrian Cards, envelopes and gift bags, An account with Vogel Custom Boots, and many vendors who supply Tarnbrooke with all the NEW things you could possibly have a need for.
2003 Up Date for Tarnbrooke Tack
Just a few lines to let you know we are growing by leaps ad bounds. We are into our fourth year of business here at Tarnbrooke Tack and enjoying every minute of it. We are very happy to have a lot of new vendors and can supply most of your equestrian wants and needs. We know the economy is not the greatest, and some of you are keeping your horses on a shoestring. That's why we are still #1 in the consignment business. Remember we take only very good,
re-saleable consignment. You won't find things here that belong in the trash. Those things are already there.
Many shoppers have found consignment items here that they can't find anywhere else. It always amazes me at the items people bring in to consign and it may be what the very next customer is looking for.
We also make it a point to go to the two big trade shows every year, one in January and the next in August. This is where we take the time to look for and purchase all the new items you will find at Tarnbrooke Tack.
We have just come from a Trade Show and you will find all those new items listed in the
What's New section of this website. Remember you can always email us to find out if we have an item in stock or if we can get it for you.
Another new thing we are doing this year in an effort to support our local riders, is a discount card. We are offering a 10% discount on all purchases of NEW items to Equestrian Students, 4-H club members and Pony club members. All we need your trainer or club leader to do is bring us a list of their students or club members. As these students and club members come into Tarnbrooke Tack, they will receive a discount card that they can use for one year
toward all their purchases of any NEW item in the store. We cannot give the discount on
Supplements, Wormers or Consignment.
